Abstract

The study is centered on initial findings that propose the need for a more engaging approach to civic education as a compulsory national course in higher education. This holds significant implications for students^ comprehension of their country. Hence, establishing a tailored
learning environment that addresses students^ needs, challenges, and learning capacities is indispensable. One proposed strategy is the development of technology-based learning materials, particularly mobile learning resources. The creation of mobile learning media is expected to boost student motivation and academic performance in civic education courses. This study aimed to develop and assess the effectiveness of mobile learning media in civic education courses. Researchers employed research and development methods using the 4D model to yield results-data collection methods comprised of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The resultant product from the study is an Android-based mobile learning application containing relevant material for civic education courses. The findings revealed that mobile learning during lectures had a more favorable impact than traditional methods. After the lectures, students and instructors concurred that mobile learning media is more
flexible and interactive, offering comprehensive learning resources, including independent and collaborative projects. These findings propose that civic education courses can be made more appealing and enhance students^ comprehension of their nation through diverse approaches,
methods, and innovative learning media.
