Implementing Conflict Management Strategies to Prevent School Violence

Abstract

This research is based on a phenomenon that shows that the occurrence of conflict in schools is not something new. Conflict in schools can be caused by a differentiated school environment. However, the presence of conflict in an organization cannot be avoided, but it can be minimized through conflict management strategies because conflict is basically something natural. Within a certain time limit, conflict can even be positive for the development and progress of the institution. This study aims to provide an understanding of the application of appropriate conflict management strategies to prevent violence in schools. The research method used is literature study. In this research, several things were found about the correlation between conflict and violence that occurs in the school environment. Conflicts that arise in schools can be minimized and can be overcome by using conflict management techniques efficiently. In addition, this study discusses effective conflict management in schools to prevent violence including proactive and reactive measures to address conflict before it leads to violence. It also involves education and training for students, teachers and staff to resolve conflicts peacefully. Effective conflict management can help create a school environment that is safe and conducive to learning and most importantly can prevent violence and ensure the safety of students in schools.
