This article explores the extent to which recent developments in the field of peace education inform the evolution of the field of civic education in Indonesia. This article was compiled using a literature study method, researchers collected data from various sources, such as journals, books, and other relevant references. The results of the study indicate that peace education is one approach to character development that aims to foster a culture of peace through three things, namely (1) encouraging people to reduce violence, (2) encouraging peaceful responses to conflict, and (3) teaching people to be more self-controlled and restrained. A strong understanding of the severity of oppression and the importance of fostering social harmony, especially in the context of educational institutions, can be obtained through civic education learning in responding to diversity.
