Abstract

National and global awareness regarding increasingly diverse world conditions is still an interesting issue in education, especially with history learning which discusses past events. This article aims to reveal the values of multiculturalism in high school history textbooks in the independent curriculum. The method used is content analysis of history textbooks used in high school classes x to xii based on the independent curriculum. The results of this research show that multicultural values such as tolerance, democracy, and recognition of equality are found in factual material in history books, especially in classes XI and XII. However, the history textbooks used in class X show a lack of integration of multiculturalism values because the material is mostly about historical concepts. From the research results, it can be concluded that the value of multiculturalism in textbooks is still not evenly distributed in every material in history textbooks and need more example on history context to enrich multiculturalism value in concept materials.
