Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of civic governance principles in educational policies in Garut Regency as an effort towards good governance. Civic governance, which emphasizes active community participation in the policymaking process, transparency, and public accountability, is an important concept in achieving good governance. A qualitative approach was used in this research, with data obtained through direct observation, interviews with education stakeholders, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and analysis of relevant policy documents. Additional data was gathered from media sources and literature studies. The research results indicate that the implementation of civic governance in education policy in Garut Regency still faces various challenges, such as the lack of effective community participation and limited access to public information related to education policies. Nevertheless, there are several positive initiatives from the local government to enhance public engagement through discussion forums and to improve transparency in the management of education. By strengthening the application of civic governance principles, Garut Regency can realize a more inclusive, transparent, and accountable education management system, thereby contributing to the improvement of education quality and the achievement of good governance.
