Length Structure and Gonad Maturity of coastal trevally (Carangoides coeruleopinnatus) caught around seaweed area

Abstract

Marine coastal in southern part of Bulukumba South Sulawesi is one of important area for the seaweeds culture and fishing activity especially small scale fishery. One of the fishes species caught in this area was a coastal trevally, Carangoides coeruleopinnatus.
This study describes for the length structure and gonad maturity of C. coeruleopinnatus. caught from mcoastal in southern part of Bulukumba South Sulawesi. Monthly sample collection from March 2022 to Pebruary 2023 was done. A total of 376 individuals comprise of 195 males (51.86 %) ranged from 6.1 cm to 26.3 cm and 181 females (48.14%) ranged from 7.2 cm to 26.1 cm were observed. the sample population of sex ratio was not significantly different. In this study, stage III and stages IV were considered mature. The standard length at maturity ranged from 13.4 cm to 26.3 cm for males, and 11.2 cm-26.1 cm for females. The percentage of maturity fishes caught 28 % - 49 %.
