Abstract

Bibliometric analysis is a useful tool for quantitatively examining the publication and citation patterns of a particular research field. In this study, we conduct a bibliometric analysis of ethnomathematics research in Indonesia using the Scopus database. Ethnomathematics is an interdisciplinary field that studies the mathematics of various cultural and indigenous communities, with a focus on the social and cultural context in which mathematics is used. Search strategy of the Scopus database using the keywords ^ethnomathematics^ and ^Indonesia^ returned a total of 44 articles published between 1995 and 2022. The majority of these articles were published in the last decade, with the highest number of publications occurring in the last five years. This suggests that ethnomathematics research in Indonesia is a growing field. Overall, the bibliometric analysis suggests that ethnomathematics research in Indonesia is a growing field, with a strong focus on education and the potential benefits of incorporating indigenous mathematical knowledge into the classroom. However, further research is needed to fully understand the impact of ethnomathematics on students^ learning and engagement in Indonesia. In conclusion, bibliometric analysis can provide valuable insights into the state of a particular research field, such as ethnomathematics in Indonesia. By examining publication and citation patterns, we can gain a better understanding of the research being conducted and the impact it is having on the field. This information can be useful for researchers, policymakers, and educators in determining the direction of future research and identifying areas of potential growth in the field.
