Abstract

Disasters like tsunamis are typically triggered by tectonic earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or landslides. Tsunami waves can hit the coast with enormous energy, causing great damage. This study focuses on landslide-generated wave phenomena.
Here, we adopt the analytical approach proposed by Jing et al. in 2020. This analytical formula can describe the free surface waves generated by landslides. Under the assumption of linearity, this solution is an analytical formula of the full governing equations for the flat bottom. Here we will simulate various types of landslide movements, and examine the resulting surface waveform. Additionally, the effect of wave dispersion on the resulting wave pattern will also be investigated.
