Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has had a profound impact on various domains, including creative design, business, and society. This study aims to explore the influence of AI innovation practices in design management on innovation and business performance. Drawing on a quantitative research approach, we conducted a survey to collect data from a sample of companies operating in the design industry. The survey measured the extent of AI application in design management and the AI skills level of design teams. Additionally, innovation performance and business performance were assessed as dependent variables.

The findings revealed a significant positive relationship between the extent of AI application in design management and both innovation performance and business performance. Furthermore, the AI skills level of design teams was found to moderate this relationship, indicating that higher AI skills levels enhance the impact of AI innovation practices on performance outcomes. These results highlight the crucial role of AI in driving innovation and improving business performance within the design management context.

This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the impact of AI innovation practices in design management. The findings offer insights for practitioners and decision-makers in the design industry, emphasizing the significance of embracing AI technologies and developing AI skills within design teams. Furthermore, the study underscores the need for organizations to adopt AI-driven strategies and processes to foster innovation and enhance business performance.
