Tourists^ Attitudes towards Conservation Efforts on the Sepanjang Beach Yogyakarta

Abstract

Indonesia has an abundant diversity of biological resources. This can affect the tourism sector which is an attraction for tourists to visit coastal areas in Indonesia, both domestic and foreign tourists. Therefore, the contribution of the community and tourists is needed in an effort to maintain and carry out conservation in the coastal ecosystem area. The involvement of the community and tourists in conservation efforts is expected to increase a sense of responsibility so that environmental care is maintained. This study aims to describe the attitudes of tourists, identify the attitudes of tourists, and determine the participation of tourists in conservation efforts at Pantai Panjang, Yogyakarta. The type of research carried out is descriptive research with survey methods, through filling out validated questionnaires and literature studies. The sample in this study amounted to 50 tourists who were in the area of Panjang Beach, Yogyakarta with accidental sampling technique. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis to analyze tourist attitudes towards conservation efforts. Based on the results obtained, it is known that most of the tourists on the Panjang Beach, Yogyakarta meet the attitude criteria that are seen based on the dimensions of cognition, affection, and conation in conservation efforts. The attitude of tourists as a whole is included in the very good criteria.
