APPLICATION OF THE AIRPORT MALL CONCEPT IN THE DESIGN OF TERMINAL 4 SOEKARNO HATTA AIRPORT

Abstract

Airport mall is a design concept that combines two facilities in one area, namely airport terminal facilities with shopping center facilities and public spaces in one building. This merger is applied to both the departure terminal and passenger arrival terminal so that it can be visited by all users of the airport space, while airport designs generally only provide flight/terminal facilities with some additional commercial facilities that are not as complete as shopping center facilities such as malls.
Terminal 4 Soekarno-Hatta Airport is a new domestic terminal located in the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport area with an area of approximately 87 hectares which in its design will apply the airport mall concept to increase the comfort of space users so as to attract the attention of visitors to stay longer in terminal 4 and can be an option for visitors who are waiting for the scheduled departure or visitors who are waiting for an pick-up from and to Terminal 4 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. In the application of the airport mall concept at commercial airports, passenger comfort is one of the important aspects that requires the application of designs that have effective circulation and can provide comfort for space users.
