Software-Defined Network in Nautical Ad-hoc Network for Indonesian Maritime Communications a) Graduate School of Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia Abstract Nautical Ad-hoc Network (NANET) is a new concept technology to integrate Communication every Ship at offshore and beach using maritime wireless services (WMS). Software-Defined Network (SDN) is a new paradigm that performs centralized network management settings. This study aims to examine and classify a number of SDN-based studies related to wireless networks, especially in NANET. First, we will explain about SDN and the architectural layer on SDN. After that, the SDN concept uses satellites as controllers in the Maritime Communication area both in the Coastal area and far from the Coast which can logically use NANET. Next, this paper presents a review of research initiatives trying to solve the communication challenges of the marine environment in Indonesia and tries to use NANET based on the SDN paradigm.
