Abstract
Organizational strategy to increase a sustainable competitive advantage for universities is essential. Competitive advantage is related to organizational strategy stating that the core of the strategy is choosing to carry out activities that are different from those of its competitors. As global competition becomes increasingly aggressive, how to maintain a competitive advantage has received more attention. Management needs to select a different set of activities to provide unique value. Therefore, competitive pressure is related to the organizational strategy used to achieve competitive advantage. Several studies have proven that the intensity of competition among universities has increased significantly.
Organizations need to focus on achieving a position of competitive advantage by growing organizational performance. Resources usually control the competitive advantage of an organization. An organization is determined by its internal resources and its competitive position in the industry concerned. In other words, a company^s Sustainable Competitive Advantage is a competitive advantage in terms of its sources or determinants, in terms of performance, and capabilities that can be achieved through its Resource-Based View (RBV), consisting of attributes Valuable, Rare, and Imperfectly imitable, Organization (VRIO) for managing its resource capabilities to maintain and improve its competitive position sustainably. There are many literature studies on sustainable competitive advantage. However, this study specifically looks at the competitive advantage research literature in universities from 2013 to 2022 in Science Direct, Scopus, Emerald Publishing, and Web of Science.
