FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE CONTEXT OF THE GREEN ECONOMY

Abstract

The erosion of the resources in the world shows the acceleration of increase in the 21st century. Sustainable development aims to meet the needs of not only todays societies but also future generations and to provide economic, social and environmental justice for all humanity with the effective use of nonrecoverable natural resources.
A green economy is needed for the realization of sustainable development, which was expressed at the Sustainable Development Conference organized by the United Nations. According to the concept of green economy, production should be provided so that social and environmental needs come before material wealth and increase the quality of life of the society. It is intended to remove environmental risks and ensure financial sustainability with the green economy.
The aim of this study is to emphasize the role and importance of the concept of green economy on financial sustainability, which is accepted as a subbranch of sustainable development and sustainable development, which is first heard in the late 20th century for the protection of the welfare and future of the ecological system and society. In this framework, first of all, the concept of sustainable development is examined. Then, the literature is reviewed and the effects of green economy on financial sustainability are interpreted in the light of data.
Sustainable development is a very important model for eliminating income inequality, increasing per capita income, increasing civic participation in public activities, and protecting the wellbeing and future of the ecological system and society. As a result, it can be stated that the green economy, which is accepted as a subbranch of sustainable development and sustainable development, which started to be heard at the end of the 20th century, offers new perspectives in terms of cultural and ecological as well as financial aspects.
