Needs Analysis for Development of Web-Based Teaching Materials for Writing Short Stories for Class XI Students of SMA Negeri 2 Jonggol

Abstract

Teaching materials are one of the important components so that learning can take place in accordance with the goals that have been set. In the era of information technology as today, teaching materials are needed to maximize the use of existing technology such as using the web for learning. Learning to write short stories is one of the materials studied in Indonesian subjects. Nowadays, the teaching materials used have several shortcomings, such as less variety of practice questions, and little discussion of the material. Many of the students still have difficulties, especially in writing short stories, so it is necessary to have teaching materials that can overcome the difficulties of students. The purpose of this study was to determine the preferences of students and teachers towards web-based teaching materials that will be developed in writing short stories text material for class XI SMA Negeri 2 Jonggol. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were students of class XI SMA Negeri 2 Jonggol. The sample was randomly selected from 57 students using a simple random sampling technique. The instruments used to collect research data are interview sheets by teachers and needs analysis questionnaires by students. The results of this study indicate that students need alternative teaching materials in the form of web-based teaching materials that can facilitate the learning process and can make students learn independently. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to develop web-based teaching materials for writing short stories for class XI SMA Negeri 2 Jonggol.
