Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia has created quite a dilemmatic situation, namely that students are limited to activities outside the home and their lectures must continue. In the midst of these problems, there is an opportunity for historical education to be able to accommodate technological advances in the form of Virtual Reality by utilizing the Virtual Tour Museum. The purpose of this research is to reveal the impact of using the Virtual version of the Indonesian National Museum on the historical awareness of students of the UHAMKA FKIP Education Study Program. This study applies the oral history method. Through the oral history method, the researcher conducted in-depth interviews with 7 key informants from 20 students in semester 6 of the Indonesian Society Studies course. Research findings show that students look enthusiastic when entering the https://museumnasional.iheritage-virtual.id/ site developed by the manager of the Indonesian National Museum. From the results of in-depth interviews with 7 key informants, it was stated that exploring the museum virtually had an impact on historical awareness of the contents of the museum whose categories were about Humans and the Environment, Science and Technology and Economics, Social and Human Settlements, Gold and Ceramics. Another impact, students stated that they could easily construct and relate historical objects to lecture materials. However, a fairly basic obstacle was found regarding the lack of historical source information, because the museum only displays pictures. In conclusion, the use of virtual museums is able to revive historical awareness for students in the midst of a pandemic situation.
