Abstract

Visual literacy has gained much importance in society and social life over the last several decades. Images are pervasive, whether in news, advertising, communication, or entertainment. Due to the impact of visuals on decision-making and opinion construction, it is critical to understand the influence of images and how they are made. It is feasible to include media message ideas into classroom instruction through the notion of visual literacy. Further, visual media-based activities provide students with opportunities to apply what they have learned in the classroom, to connect the classroom with the outside world, to foster leadership and cooperation, as well as their personal integrity. In this article, the writers examine the ideas and instructional possibilities of visual and media literacy, as well as the use of digital visual storytelling to foster student multimodal literacy in ESP classrooms through a review of relevant researches over the last two years i.e. 2019 to 2021.
