Abstract
ABSTRAK
Translation has a strategic role and function in bridging the communication process between different languages. This research aims to identify and find translation techniques that support aspects of communication for readers to facilitate the meaning of fantasy literature in the world. Research design is qualitative content analysis. The research population is the Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows novels in English and Indonesian versions. The relevant sampling is in written text selected by category, the first 400 words at the beginning of each chapter. Research instruments are units of text and raters/experts^ knowledge. From the data analysis and raters^ experience, it was found that translation techniques are dominated by a combination of literal, adaptation, transference, word-to-word, semantics, synonyms, transposition, and free translation. The translation is so communicative that it can bridge two different languages and cultures. Varied translation techniques can increase the effectiveness of aspects of communication for readers of fantasy literary novels. Translation processes and techniques will significantly influence the meaning of literary fantasy translation of different cultures.
