Types of Macroalgae Found in Merpas Beach, Nasal District, Kaur Regency

Abstract

This study aims to determine types of macroalgae found on the Merpas beach, Nasal District, Kaur Regency. This study used a direct survey method to the research location which was carried out in January-February 2020. The research location was determined by purposive sampling. Sampling used 5 transect lines with a length of 100 m each, then plotted systematically, 1 line transect consists of 5 plots with a total of 25 plots and the size of each plot is 5x5 m. The results of the study at Merpas Beach, Nasal District, Kaur Regency, found 13 species of macroalgae, namely 5 species from the Chlorophyta Division (Ulva lactuca, Ulva intestinalis, Boergesenia forbesii, Chaetomorpha crassa, and Caulerpa racemosa), 5 species from the Rhodophyta Division (Gracilaria gracilis, Gelidium spinosum), Palmaria palmata, Laurencia papilosa, and Amphiroa anceps), and 3 species from the Phaeophyta Division (Sargassum sp, Padina australis, and Turbinaria ornata). Ecological conditions at Merpas beach have an average temperature of 28oC, pH 7.9 and a salt content of 28%o.
