Abstract
The research conducted by the researcher aims to find out how the response of midwifery students regarding obstetric emergencies and to find out the obstacles that occur in obstetric emergency materials in midwifery students. This type of research is included in the type of mixed method research with a sequential explanatory design. By using a sample of 98 students consisting of midwifery students in semester 5 and 7, which were obtained using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study include questionnaires and interviews aimed at strengthening the results of quantitative data. Data analysis in this study used descriptive statistics, including mean, median, min and max, and qualitative data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method, namely reducing data, displaying data and concluding. The results obtained by researchers in this study were female responses regarding obstetric emergencies in a good category, and female students had several obstacles in obstetric emergencies, including knowledge of thinking ability and analytical power as well as the experience of rescue workers, often making mistakes in the initial (diagnosis) and lack of help. Based on the results presented in this study, it has implications if students have competent competencies as midwives, then midwifery students will be able to control obstetric emergencies, otherwise these students will make fatal mistakes that result in the lives of patients. Therefore, it is necessary to inculcate religious values in order to be able to support female students in resolving or handling obstetric emergencies, because students who have good religious values, of course, he will be careful in making decisions, and he will do it quickly, carefully and directed according to within the scope of science education.
