The Development of Kebiul Seed Extract (Caesalpinia bonduc) as Degue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) Medicine through Thrombocyte Enhancement Test in Mice Universitas Bengkulu Abstract Kebiul seeds (Caesalpinia bonduc) are hereditary used by the Bengkulu community (Serawai tribe) as medicine to cure malaria, diabetes, gout and other diseases. The purpose of this study was to carry out preclinical testing for extracts of Kebiul seeds to increase the number of thrombocyte in mice. Forty mice were induced orally with acetylsalicylic acid (aa) once a day at a dose of 84 mg/kg for two days. On the third day, the mice were divided into 8 groups. Group K-, K+, P1, P2 and P3 were given orally and consecutively with sesame oil (K-), acetylsalicylate (aa) (K+), extract of Kebiul seeds with the dosage of 0.028 g/kgbw (P1)- 0.056 g/kgbw (P2) and 0.084g/kgbw (P3), and then P4, P5 and P6 were given extract of Angkak at the dosage of 0.028 g/kgbw (P4)- 0.056 g/kgbw (P5) and 0.084g/kgbw (P6). On the fourth day, the blood of each mouse from each group treatment was taken through the tail to count the number of the platelets. The platelets were counted using a hemacytometer with the aid of a binocular microscope. The administration of Kebiul seeds extracts at a dose of 0.056 g/kgbw (P2) can increase the number of platelet up to normal, approaching the treatment of negative controls (K-). Based on this result, the extract from Kebiul seeds at a dose of 0.056 g/kgbw is highly potential to be used as a medicine to increase the number of thrombocytes in DHF patients compared to ones of Angkak extract from the same dosage.
