Abstract

This study aims at investigating the Fiddler Crab Diversity (Uca sp) on the Mangrove Vegetation with different density in Pulau Baii area of Sumber Jaya region Kampung Melayu Sub-district of Bengkulu City. The study method was by doing direct observation to research location. The sampling technique was by using purposive sampling to determine the station and plot making. Data were analyzed by using diversity index and mangrove vegetation descriptively. The results were obtained five species of fiddler crab with the number of 1.216 individuals including Uca dussumieri, Uca rosea, Uca lactea, Uca triangularis and Uca coarcata. Based on the research result that the most abundant of fiddler crab diversity was Uca dussumieri with the number of 634 individual and the least found of was Uca lactea with the number of 6 individual. At the station 1 diversity index the rare vegetation density namely 0,297 categorized low, station 2 of medium vegetation density with low diversity index value namely 0,380 and the diversity index value in station 3 that type of vegetation density was grouped low namely 0,497. The total number of the entire stations of diversity index categorized in medium with diversity value was 1,156. The high density of mangrove vegetation in Pulau Baii diversity fiddler crabs (Uca spp) higher. The acquired environmental condition in the research location was that : temperature was around 30oC - 31oC, soil pH (soil acidity level) or the substrat ranging from 6,0 - 6,4 from slightly acidic to acidic, the pH of the water is measured ranging 8,0 - 8,2 classified as acid, and water salinity measuring 14o/ oo - 20o/oo.
