Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many small-scale businesses (SMEs) have to struggle to keep their businesses still survive. One way to do this is by turning to social media for selling their products. Social media are commonly believed to increase the profits of most businesses. This study analysed the profit generation of some selling media (Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Word of Mouth) used by small-scale businesses. The participants for this study were three home scale businesses selling Indonesian traditional snacks. From their sales data, we analysed the profit obtained from each social media/ used to find out which media generate the most profit for the business. We found that the highest profit for the household business was resulted from sales through social media Instagram, since promoting through Instagram generate the highest number of items sold. However, other selling media also generate maximum profits depending on the business owners familiarity and mastery of those media. The results signify that using the right selling media can significantly increase the profits of one^s business.
