Abstract
Processing materials using microwave energy has become popular in recent times. Microwave processing applications include food processing, ceramics, metals, semiconductors, to chemical processes. The use of microwaves for ceramics and bio-oil research has been carried out by our research group in the last ten years. Compared to conventional processing such as electricity, microwave processing is faster, efficient, selective, controlled and flexible. Because the time is short and without other treatments, it is economically very profitable. In the bio-oil process, the thermochemical process that changes the biomass occurs due to heat and due to electromagnetic waves. The chemical and physical properties of bio-oil obtained from the microwave-assisted biomass process are also different from those of other conventional and kiln furnaces. Some results of energy conversion calculations using microwaves and electric furnaces are described in detail in this paper
