Effect of cattle origin and ownership status on reproductive performance of Bali cows kept by smallholder farmer at Field Station of Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SL-SPR) a) Animal Production and Technology Study Program, Faculty of Animal Science IPB University, Bogor, Indonesia Abstract Reproductive performance of cows in an effort to population increase was influenced by many factors. This study aims to analyze the effect of cattle origin and ownership status on reproductive performance of Bali cows kept by smallholder farmers at Field Station of Sekolah Peternakan Rakyat (SLSPR) Maju Bersama, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. Three hundred and thirty of Bali cows owned by 219 farmers were measured the reproductive performance including age first calving (AFC), calving interval (CI) and days open (DO). Data were collected directly with survey and observation methods. The result showed that cattle origin and ownership status were not affected on AFC but affected on CI and DO. Bali cattle was originated from the outside of SPR group have faster CI and DO of 466,1 and 160,1 days. Bali cattle was fully owned has faster CI and DO than kept by profit sharing at 447,4 and 161,4 days. The results are used to repair reproductive management to improve the quality of Bali cows in SLSPR Maju Bersama.
