Relationship of Estradiol Hormone Levels with Sexual Function in Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women a) Obstetry and Gynecology Department, Medical Faculty, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Indonesia. Abstract This study aims to assess the relationship of estradiol hormone levels with sexual function in premenopausal women and postmenopausal women. This cross-sectional study was conducted at the teaching hospital in the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, from February to July 2019. The sample was parturient women aged 40-60 years who had a partner and had intact genital organs. sexual dysfunction was assessed with the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) questionnaire. Estradiol levels were analyzed from venous blood samples. Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS software using Chi-Square Test. Research has been conducted on 78 samples consisting of 42 premenopausal women and 36 postmenopausal women. Estradiol levels of premenopausal and postmenopausal women were 125.27 +/- 69.54 and 67.63 +/- 32.29, respectively. The mean FSFI score in the premenopausal women and postmenopausal women was 23.73 +/- 6.90 and 17.45 +/- 7.16, respectively. There were significant differences in estradiol levels and FSFI scores between the premenopausal women and postmenopausal women (p= 0.000). The correlation between estradiol hormone levels and sexual function in premenopausal women is weak (r = 0.011) and not significant (p - 0.947). In postmenopausal women, the correlation between estradiol hormone levels and sexual function is week (r= 0.006) and not significant (p = 0.973). This study concludes that estradiol hormone affects sexual function in premenopausal and postmenopausal women.
