Abstract

This article is result from our program that motivated by problems experienced by Early Childhood Education/Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) teachers because of the presence of students with special needs or students with behavior problems that are difficult to handle in class. The difficulty of the teacher in handling these students was reasoned because the teachers in PAUD are generally not teachers with special education backgrounds. In fact, there are still many PAUD teachers who have difficulty recognizing children with special needs because of the various characteristics and difficulties in recognizing children who experience obstacles in development so that children with special needs are only identified after attending the elementary school education level.
This phenomenon appears in PAUD schools in the Tamansari District area in Bandung City. PAUD teachers still do not have the competence to find out early detection of children with special needs. This is due to limitations in the PAUD education background. The condition of the schools in the Tamansari District from several existing PAUD schools, there are 2 schools that have very limited facilities with the condition of students who generally come from low socioeconomic background. The three schools are Tresnasari PAUD POS, and Karangsari PAUD. The two schools are private schools with minimal financial funds.
In 2020 the program carried out by team to give assistance of Early Detection Training activities for PAUD teachers in the Tamansari District where from each PAUD school was represented by 2 - 3 teachers. The service team prepared training modules and carried out training by providing material in class, the teacher conducted independent training in schools and a visitation was carried out to evaluate the application of knowledge from the training results.
