Abstract

Waste is a problem that often occurs in Indonesia, both in urban and rural areas. This is also happened in Tanggulun Village, Kadungora District, Garut Regency. Most of the villagers still throw their garbage into the river and burn their garbage. This research was conducted by means of literature studies, field surveys, open interviews with village officials, also pretest and posttest regarding waste management. Community assistance is carried out by providing direct counseling and practice by professional speakers and facilitators who understand the environment, especially the problem of waste. After providing community assistance in waste management, the community^s knowledge about waste has become more open and increased. This is indicated by the results of the posttest has a better score than pretest. In the future, the community is expected to be able to carry out good waste management so that waste can have economic benefits and improve the community^s economy
