The Intervention Model of Vocational High School Career Maturity in Bandung

Abstract

Vocational High School is a secondary education as a continuation of junior high school / madrasah tsanawiyah (junior high school of Islamic school) which give various programs specifically based on the intended competence of the school. With the skill given, graduates from vocational high school are expected to be able to work directly based on their skill. But, the fact is not as expected, lots of vocational high school graduates are not absorbed by the professional world, even they contribute as the biggest number of open unemployment degree compared with other educational degree in West Java. Problem above shows the unreadiness of vocational high school graduates in entering work industries. The readiness itself is not only related with skills required by the employers but the more important thing is that most of the graduates are not understand yet about the real requirement of professional world. Career maturity relate with how they prepare their career plan, how far they explore their career, how they make decision and the last one is how far they find information about job that are related with their vocational high school major. This research conduct in 2 stages, first is particularly explore about career maturity degree of vocational high school students in Bandung, through descriptive statistic method, the picture analyzed and become the career maturity profile of vocational high school student. The research sample is vocational high school students in Bandung, both public and private. The research result shows that majority of the vocational high school student career maturity degree is still at medium and low category. From that profile then an intervention design made in form of training in order to improve vocational high school student career maturity. Intervention design emphasize more on poor career maturity aspect. So the output of this research is The Intervention Model of Vocational High School Student Career Maturity in Bandung.
