Abstract

For a Muslim to have a pious or ^sholeh^ child is ideal. The word ^sholeh^ has absorbed into the Indonesian language not only for Muslims but is used in general. In Islam^s perspective, pious children who pray for their parents promised by God with eternal reward. This study seeks to construct indicators of the character of pious children for pedagogical purposes. The research method is Delphi, with a qualitative approach. The research steps carried out starting from theoretical studies, developing hypothetical constructs, review by experts and practitioners in focus group discussion activities, revisions, and studies conducted in two cycles until a consensus obtained. The object of this study is the theoretical construct of pious child characters. The research subjects were researchers and seven experts and practitioners in the field of Islamic education and religion. The study results produced a construct of the character of a pious child whose consensus was agreed to carry out in a field test in the form of a tool to express children^s piety. The conclusions of the study produce character constructs of pious children ranging from sholehul aqli (pious in thinking), sholehul maslakiyah (pious in talents), sholehul jasadi (pious in physically), solehul qalbi (pious in heart), and sholehul amali (pious in action). Furthermore, Sholeh^s (pious) child character^s construction recommended the development of a tool to assess it as a pedagogical basis.
