Abstract
Objective: Family is one of the main sources of motivation for patients to commit and increase their self-acceptance and confidence in undergoing medical treatments. Method: This study aims to analyse the relationship between family support and self-acceptance of haemodialysis patients who have been treated for more than 6 months. The 71 patients were recruited via purposive sampling, and questionnaire was performed to obtain the family support and self-acceptance features. Statistical data was analysed via Pearson correlation. Result: The result showed that 62 persons (87.3%) had a good family support which contributed to 66 persons (93.0%) had a good self-acceptance behaviour. A significant relationship between the family support and self-acceptance of the patients was obtained with strong correlation with r = 0.722- p<0.00. Conclusion: The family is the closest individuals who understand the condition and needs of the patients, so that their support triggers the patient motivation to maintain and improve the health conditions.
