ANTIFERTILITY EFFECT OF PAPAYA LEAVES EXTRACT ETHANOL (Carica papaya L.) TO SPERM NORMALITY

Abstract

This aim of this research as determine the effect of antifertility ethanol extracts of papaya^s leaves (Carica papaya L.) to sperm normality Twenty-four male white rats Sprague Dawley strain were adapted for 7 days, then divided into 4 groups, each group was treated as follows: normal control was given aquadest- dose 1 was given papaya leaf ethanol extracts (0.04 g / 200 g WB rat)- dose 2 (0.08 g / 200 g WB rat)- dose 3 (0.16 g / 200g WB rat ). The test preparation was administered orally for 20 days. The parameters observed were sperm normality examination, then analyzed by SPSS. The results showed that the administration of papaya leaves ethanol extract had an anti-fertility effect by significantly reducing the sperm normality with the greatest dose of activit was dose 3 (0.16 g / 200 g WB rat) as much as 72%.
