Abstract

Mangroves are plants that live in muddy soils, high tide areas, areas around the coast, and shallow waters. Has secondary metabolite compounds flavonoids which are thought to have antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of mangrove leaves (Sonneratia alba Sm) using the DPPH method. Methods: Characteristics of the quality of simplicia, extraction using reflux method with ethanol solvent, Test for antioxidant activity using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) Research results: simpilisa meets the quality standards of simplicia based on Farmakofe Herbal Indonesia, contains flavonoids, folipenols, saponins , tannins, quinones. The test results of antioxidant activity of vitamin C and ethanol extract seen from the IC50 values were 1.89 ppm and 34.23 ppm.
